Our story

Astrada was founded in 2002 with the idea that product calculations and profitability tracking could be done in a better way, with the goal of producing much better decision-making information. The founders of Astrada had a background as management consultants and several years of experience in profitability analysis projects in large international companies such as Ericsson, Scania and Alfa Laval. The methodology used then was ABC (Activity-Based Costing) and the results were often interesting, detailed and useful. At the moment. Because they were consultant projects, they were also difficult to maintain, and updates for new periods were often inconvenient and time-consuming. Astrada instead developed system solutions to make faster, more continuous updates with the possibility of maintaining the model and logic over time.

The company got off to a flying start with a few large industrial customers. Together with them, Astrada was able to develop both its concept and its own software. The result was system solutions for product calculation, cost and profitability analysis for ongoing monitoring and forecasting in several business dimensions (customer, market, product, segment), with an important difference from what customers were used to: they could now administer, update and further develop their own systems. Something that is a prerequisite for continuously learning from the data that is produced, making decisions, and refining their processes.

Since then, Astrada has further developed its software platform with more features. Today, there are proven and configurable applications in several areas: production and capacity planning, product calculation and profitability information, pricing and offering, and carbon footprint. From initially only working with a few industrial customers, Astrada now operates in several different industries. Clients are found in such diverse businesses as healthcare, manufacturing and process industry, logistics and transportation, municipalities and regions, and banking and insurance.

Over the years, Astrada has also built a strong corporate culture. The employees - developers, project managers, implementation consultants, customer responsible and support staff - in addition to a bachelor's, master's or PhD degree in engineering, economics or computer science have a solid interest in what can make a real difference for the client: to be attuned to the actual process as it actually looks. And to work "in the boundary where operational data meets operational understanding," as Tomas Bandmann, CEO and one of the founders, explains it. "It is important for us to quickly understand our customers' operations, organization and processes and also understand how their ERP systems and system environments work. Our experience is that this leads to really good solutions."
